The Black Springs Universe

The Black Springs Universe is an interconnected collection of novels by Zelmer Wilson about writers, families, friendships, love, ambition, and the stories one generation leaves behind for the next.

Spanning decades and multiple generations, the novels follow characters including Bobbie Lamont, Billie Carver, Miller Hoffman, Isabel Mathews, Henry Ray Daniels, Michelle Connor, and others whose lives repeatedly intersect in unexpected ways. A protagonist in one novel may appear years earlier or later in another, while relationships, choices, and seemingly minor encounters can take on new meaning as the larger story unfolds.

At the center of much of the universe is Black Springs Press, a publishing house that brings together generations of writers, editors, and artists. Through their connection to the press—and to one another—the characters pursue literary careers, fall in and out of love, build families, confront old wounds, and discover that the past is rarely as distant as they believed.

The Black Springs Universe is built around the idea that everyone is part of somebody else’s story. Parents shape children they may never fully understand. Writers inspire future writers.
